Summary ANIMAL TESTING
The Government has announced that animal testing will be made illegal in Australia by July next year.

It means thousands of cosmetic products will be banned from stores if their manufacturers continue to test their products on animals.

We take a look at the history behind this practice and find out how often animal testing still happens around the world today.

STORM DAMAGE
Much of the east coast of Australia was battered by wild winds and heavy rain over the past week.

The damage was particularly evident along the coastline, where many homes were destroyed by the huge waves the storm created.

We take a closer look at the damage to find out what natural factors combined to cause such destruction.

DORY IN DANGER
Australian researchers are worried fans of the soon-to-be-released animated film Finding Dory might inadvertently add to the woes of the title species, the Blue Tang.

When the original Finding Nemo was released, the population of the clownfish suffered because too many people wanted their own Nemo as a pet.

Now they fear a similar result for Dory's real world relatives.

** Dory in Danger will be next week's BtN #AskaReporter topic **

HMAS SYDNEY
Deep in the ocean off the coast of Western Australia lies two 75-year old shipwrecks, the HMAS Sydney and a German ship that battled it during World War II.

In 2008, the ships were finally discovered and now researchers have managed to raise the Sydney, without actually touching it.

Instead, they used 3D technology and the fastest computer in the southern hemisphere to bring it back from the deep.

ROOKIE REPORTER BOOT CAMP
Last week we introduced you to Maya, BtN's new Rookie Reporter for the 2016 federal election.

Now, you'll join her as she learns all about political reporting from some of the best in the business.

What is involved in covering a campaign? And how do reporters make sure what they present is balanced?

Maya will share what she's learnt next week.
