Summary Annotation At the request of the US Environmental Protection Agency, the National Research Council organized a workshop in November 2000 where environmental and political scientists examined the assertion that changed conditions call for increased use of alternatives to regulation and economic measures to deal with environmental concerns. The 21 essays, revised from presentations there, look at information and education for individuals, households, and communities; and voluntary measures in the private sector. They are not indexed.
