Summary |
American Egg (AmEgg) is a fictional case modeled after Cal-Maine Foods (Gagnon, 2020). The case requires students to evaluate options and make decisions to recover company capital due to a shortfall in company revenue and profitability. American Egg is a USD 1.2 billion revenue, family-run, third-generation egg production business that primarily produces commodity shell egg products in the eastern United States. The current case challenges students to determine means to shore up a USD 100 million annual family owner dividend that is at a USD 42.5 million deficit due to decreased commodity shell egg market pricing. Students assume the role of business consultants who have been asked to provide a recommendation to company leadership. The case is further enriched by the addition of conflicting decision options, family executive perspectives, and founding company values |
