Summary |
Greden et al. present the treatment roadmap used in its Treatment Resistant Depression Program, for clinicians, patients, and their families. The 15 chapters discuss screening, early treatment approaches, combining and augmenting treatments, using complementary treatments, and updated assessments of treatment effectiveness such as transcranial magnetic stimulation, deep brain stimulation, and ketamine infusions. They stress maintaining wellness and self-care and cover special populations like adolescents, college students, pregnant women, older people, and those with comorbidities, and areas like alcohol and drug use, sleep and circadian rhythms, psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, device-related neuromodulation, and the importance of exercise and nutrition. They also discuss the bipolar disorder medical care model, peer support, and genetics |
