Summary |
"When four young Indigenous activists arrived on the lawns of Parliament House in Canberra on Australia Day, in 1972, they had little idea that their small protest would fast become a defining moment in the country's modern history. It was five years after the 1967 Referendum for Aboriginal rights, and the new protest movement was losing patience over the government's failure to address issues of Aboriginal injustice. The Aboriginal Tent Embassy became a focal point for an emerging national Indigenous voice and played a major role in the creation of Australia's first Land Rights legislation. Featuring rarely seen interviews and archival images, 'Embassy Days' captures the essence of these heady days in Australian politics."-- website |
