Summary This case study focuses on a project designed to empower and enable early childhood education practitioners to observe and document the creativity of the young children they work with. Through workshops, practitioners became skilled in making video observations of children engaged in creative processes. When viewing observations together, productive dialogues emerged among the practitioners around questions such as the following: What is creativity and what does it look like? What are the right conditions for creativity? What can educational practitioners do to facilitate creativity among young children? Through this collaborative approach to research, my role as a researcher shifted so that it depended more on the facilitation of dialogue among others and less on taking a lead in data collection and analysis. This shift not only offered an exciting new dynamic to the research process but also led to practical difficulties that are addressed in this case study
