This case study reports on a mixed-methods research programme examining occupational commitment in students studying for a qualification in a care profession. This programme took an explorative approach, beginning with qualitative semi-structured interviews in order to generate a theoretical model, before testing this model using a quantitative survey. Advice is given regarding the use of mixed methods, conducting interviews and surveys, analysing qualitative data and measuring quantitative data
