Summary Building on ASCD's video series Differentiating Instruction and At Work in the Differentiated Classroom, this series helps teachers who already have some experience with differentiation learn how to plan and use seven strategies that support a differentiated classroom. This DVD includes the first four programs in the series: Learning Contracts shows how to give students different tasks based on their readiness and interest, allowing students to take responsibility for planning and monitoring their work. Intelligence Preferences demonstrates how to address students' learning preferences by offering several avenues (analytical, practical, creative) to the same learning goals, so students can be more successful at reaching the goals. Tiered Assignments shows how to respond to students' varied readiness levels by offering tasks at different levels of difficulty so all students are appropriately challenged and supported. Complex Instruction explains how to engage groups of students working collaboratively on a challenging, real-world task that demands the unique intellectual strengths and talents of each student for the group to succeed. Scenes from elementary, middle, and high school classes demonstrate how and why the strategies are used. Support the implementation of differentiated instruction in your school by showing these videotapes in your upcoming professional development workshops
