Summary From the invention of the wheel to the wonder of solar-powered cars, this program explores different forms of land transport. It opens with images of students making their way to school. Among them are three children who, though they live close to each other and attend the same school, travel in separate cars. This encourages young viewers to think about the transport modes they rely on.Monty questions the science behind land transport. Aided by simple animations and experiements, the program explores how axles work, why tyres are made from rubber, how cars move and stop, and why work vehicles are designed differently. The environmental consequences of transport choices are explored and some energy saving alternatives are illustrated and explained. The program concludes with the three children making an alternative choice about how to get to school - and conserve energy! This three-part series explores the science and technology behind transport. Information is delivered through a lively, friendly rapport between a narrator and Monty, an inquisitive animated character. Each program features animations and simple experiments to help explain how a wide range of transport machines work. Children will see a range of vehicles and be encouraged to think about the choices they can make in the transport they use in their day-to-day lives. For the Juniors, for students aged 6-8 years, aims to stimulate children's curiosity and imagination, widen their horizons and encourage them to explore their environment, present enjoyable experiences which relate broadly to the lives and interests of the children and raise issues. Each series is arranged in groups of programs relating to a particular theme
