Summary In America, about 8,000 children are born with CP each year. Their brains are damaged at birth, usually because of a temporary lack of oxygen. Cerebral palsy breaks the connection between mind and muscle. Most often kids with cerebral palsy, like Blaine, settle into wheelchairs for the rest of their lives.
