Summary Sudden Financial Crises are recurring and disturbing feature of globalization. Emerging market economies are especially at risk. Understanding this phenomenon requires not just reactive analysis in the wake of eachh outbreak but a regular forum in which experts from a variety of disciplines and perspectives can study the problem and develop solutions over time. To that end, the World Bank Group, the Interantional Monetary Fund, and the Brookings Institution have collaborated since 1998 on a series of annual conferences designed to be of interest to investors, analysts, and policymakers throughout the world with the objective of stimulating policy dialogue and sharing global experiences
