Inventions featured on the program: BPOD - by inventor Michael Gorman from VICIt is the cause of many sleepless nights, fights between husbands and wives, and subsequent relegation to the couch. Sleep apnoea occurs when the airway collapses during sleep, causing the sufferer to wake from a lack of oxygen. In extreme cases this can happen up to 800 times a night, so if you have sleep apnoea you and your partner can forget about a good night's sleep. Tonight, The New Inventors presents the elusive cure.Michael Gorman, biomedical engineer and inventor, has created the BPOD. The invention is worn on the chest as the patient sleeps. When they roll onto their back the device triggers a vibration, causing the sleeper to roll over without waking. Extensive testing has shown that the invention reduces interfered sleeping time from 30-40% of the night to less than 1%.MULTI-CLINE - by inventor Chet Cline from VICA lot of people who live on the land love trucks, and there is a particular truck for just about everything you can think of. There are box trucks, refrigerated trucks, dump body trucks, grain body trucks, service and utility trucks, tray trucks, and more. Unfortunately trucks don't come cheap and devices to change the body of a truck aren't much better. The Multi-Cline is a simple, economical, and lightweight method of changing from one truck body to another. The invention is at least 50% cheaper than other systems on the market, and up to 80% lighter, allowing truck owners to transport more goods, and achieve better fuel economy. The invention allows the user to swap one truck body for another quickly, safely and easily.FIREFLY - by inventor James Morton from NSWMost motorists do their best to avoid running over cyclists, after all it can damage your car. The problem is that sometimes they just don't see the cyclist. If you are driving along focused on the cars in front, you may not notice the cyclist who is about to cross your path. The Firefly light uses a sensor that detects traffic approaching from behind the rider. When a car is detected, LEDs flash onto the back of the rider. The device has a protruding arm which allows the light to illuminate the entire back of the rider at any angle. A set of LEDs also illuminate the ground beneath the rider, allowing drivers to see exactly where the rider is |
