Early colonial Victoria provided unusual obstacles in civil engineering. Through six vignettes covering the Bendigo Railway Line, the Coliban Water Scheme, the Lower Stony Creek Dam, the first saltwater railway bridge and the Taradale Railway viaduct, we are shown how these obstacles were overcome to become engineering feats that we now take for granted
