The National Project on the Quality of Teaching and Learning developed a set of generic competencies for beginning teachers, called the National Competency Framework for Beginning Teaching. This book of case studies is a companion volume to the Framework. The vignettes described in it contextualise and illustrate the areas of competence and assist teachers in applying the Framework to their own context. They describe incidents of teaching and reveal the complex, ambiguous and personal nature of teaching from current beginning teachers throughout Australia. They are grouped into early childhood, middle years and postcompulsory and have reference numbers to the numbered elements of the Framework. [Foreword, ed]
