SAGE Research Methods. Cases
|
Summary |
This case is based on my dissertation research which explores the politics of international development aid by examining the determinants of World Bank lending behavior. Utilizing a combination of exponential regression and two-stage selection models, my research evaluates the impact of economic need, institutional quality, and donor influence on the amount of aid countries received from the World Bank. This case study walks students through the design and implementation of a dissertation, with a focus on research design, practical tips for novice researchers, and advice on how to identify and address several methodological challenges one may encounter when using quantitative methods. Through this case study, students will learn to identify and manage nonlinear relationships and zero-point clustering in response variables |
