Amazon with Bruce Parry follows explorer Bruce Parry's epic journey down the world's greatest river, from the Amazon's source deep in the Peruvian Andes to its vast mouth on Brazil's Atlantic coast. Travelling over 6,000km by foot, light aircraft and boat, Bruce will meet and live with tribes, coca growers, loggers and illegal miners. Immersing himself in their lives, he reveals how they are affected by the changing world around them.Episode one sees Bruce travel from the source of the river in the High Andres through Peru's dangerous cocaine producing valleys to visit the Ashaninka tribe. Later, high up on the 18,000 foot Peruvian mountain, Nevado Mismi, he spends time living with a family of alpaca farmers.But soon he's on the trail of something more sinister as he follows the river down through the deadly Apurimac Valley, a lawless zone where life is cheap and hard-up locals work for a pittance producing 100 tons of cocaine a year.
