This report is one of twenty in the current series of Community Profiles. It follows on from its highly successful predecessors based on the 1986 Census and the 1991 Census. As with the previous series, each Profile is based on country of birth and is cross-tabulated with a broad range of demographic and socio-economic characteristics. In addition, some information on the second generation (Australia-born children of immigrant parents) is included. Unlike the previous reports which look at the history of the group, the introduction in this series discusses the community in Australia today and provides a bibliography of recent literature for the particular community
