Summary A mixed-age group from Rhodesway School in inner-city Bradford spends a week at the Outward Bound Centre at Ullswater in the Lake District. The Outward Bound Trust aims to challenge young people by taking them outside their comfort zone . The intention is not necessarily to make them proficient at outdoor activities, but to use those activities as a learning experience. The programme follows two groups from the same school as they go rock climbing, balancing on high wires, raft-building, pot-holing and canoeing. Over the course of the week the children learn more about themselves, and are encouraged to take responsibility for their own actions and work together as an effective team. Tasks formerly considered impossible suddenly seem possible after all
