Summary |
"As spring approached, Baringa, grandson of the famous Silver Brumby Thowra, dreams of taking his mares to graze on the plain known as Quambat Flat without the fear that Lightning, his own dam's brother, would molest them. Baringa knew that he had to become leader of Quambat Flat and yet he must defeat Lightning without hurting him. The hot wind and rain melted the winter's snow into a flood so huge that it could bear away horses and mares, and life was suddenly completely changed. Because of the flood, and so much happened as a result of it, a chestnut mare sought Baringa; a black stallion, whose roan mares had been stolen, sought the silver horse that stole them, and Thowra, in his hidden valley, hear that Baringa was missing and came to look for him. All this and more was to take place before Baringa became The Stallion of Quambat Flat. This is Elyne Mitchell's fourth book about the wild horses of the Australian bush and children will find it as exciting and enthralling as its predecessors." -- Dust jacket |
