Summary "The People Speak is a documentary that celebrates and encourages the influence seemingly powerless people can effect when they rally for their cause through the spoken word and its dramatic delivery. It is a thematic history of dissent and protest as captured by the words people have used when they felt the need to be heard. The form is simple: fine actors take to a clean, leanly designed stage to delivery rousing monologues derived from letters, songs, poems, speeches and manifestos. These short renditions (and selected songs of protest) are positioned within narrated contexts and set against archival footage and still images that reprise the heat of our nation's major social justice struggles." -- EnhanceTV website
