Summary |
Remnants of War offers readers a collection of journeys conducted by members and guest contributors from the University of South Australia's Narratives of War research group. All are passionate enough about their topics actually to have visited key locations around the world: the Normandy beaches and other World War 2 battlefields; the remains of Italian and German prisoner-of-war and concentration camps; Cold War icons; Australian wartime sites, both actual and virtual, in Queensland and South Australia; the tragic Mostar Bridge in Bosnia; and many more. All have discovered how important a physical connection with such sites has been to developing a clearer understanding of people and events, past and present. And all pass on, in a series of insightful and lively accounts, their experiences in making that discovery |
