Summary |
ECO-TEC probes the fusion between ecology and technology, to go beyond prevailing theories of sustainability and suggest a new role for architecture. It serves to reassess our collective ecological and technological illiteracy by placing a priority on learning from nature and taking care of nature in the buildings and communities we design, build, and occupy. The thirteen essays in ECO-TEC stem from a series of international forums and workshops sponsored by StoreFront for Art and Architecture. It brings together biologists, physicists, geologists, artists, architects and social critics writing on such diverse subjects as the relevance of nanotechnology in architecture, and the renovation of an abandoned asbestos factory |
