A key impediment to wider scale plantings in the Australian landscape is the lack of relevant information concerning the suitability of tree species for processing into marketable products. This publication reports the results of laboratory tests for sawn timber quality, kraft and thermomechanical pulp and paper, medium density fibre board and extractive contents of five conifer genotypes sampled from dryland plantations in temperate zones. The information should assist in the selection of species with the potential to produce an optimum mix of products for the markets in their region
