Summary |
"Uncovers how a mission to the moon became a life or death effort to return the three astronauts safely home. For the superstitious, the mission was doomed from the start - it was labelled the unlucky number 13 and was due to take off at 13 minutes past the hour. For the NASA scientists this was a preposterous notion - but the calamity faced by the shuttle became very real when one of its oxygen tanks exploded during a routine test, 200,000 miles from earth. It had blown off a whole third of the spaceship, mortally affecting the men's oxygen, power and water supplies." -- website |
