Summary The effects of altered fat and glucose availability on the regulation of fat metabolism after glycogen-lowering exercise were examined. Intramuscular triacylglycerol (IMTG) utilisation is negligible during recovery whilst changes in post-exercise whole-body fat oxidation appear unrelated to differences in skeletal muscle malonyl-CoA. Increases in metabolic gene transcription may also affect post-exercise fat oxidation
