Summary |
This field guide to the insects of Australia is profusely illustrated with plates and figures that first appeared in R.J. Tillyard's textbook on insects of Australia and New Zealand [see RAE/A 15, p. 98], published in 1926 and now out of print. The different orders are dealt with in turn, proceeding from the most primitive to the most advanced, and in the case of the larger and more important orders the main families are given separate treatment. Common and scientific names are given for the taxa dealt with, together with simple keys for their recognition where appropriate. For each taxon, notes are provided on common examples, biology, recognition and, where relevant, economic importance |
