Summary The New European Security Disorder is a comprehensive assessment of Europe's post-Cold War security threats, the roles of the main actors and institutions. Many challenges to Europe's security are non-military and have not been seriously addressed by Western Europe or its US ally. The institutional responses to Europe's post-Cold War security challenges from NATO, WEU, CSCE and the EC have been confused, duplicatory or non-existent. This book argues for the need for coherent collective leadership at the European level, the gradual phasing out of NATO, and the creation of a pan-European security structure
