Summary |
"This work is a sociologically based analysis of the day care ritual abuse panic in America. It introduces the concept of moral panic and explores the ideological, political, economic, and professional forced behind it. The McMartin Preschool case is discussed as the incident that founded the panic. Collisions between the interest groups that stirred up the panic and the day care providers accused of abuse are examined, as are the methods of court-appointed interrogators who elicited ever more fanciful stories from uncomprehending children. The book ends with a discussion of what lessons can be learned."--BOOK JACKET |
