The aim of the project was to act as a catalyst for developing a high level strategic planning process, which would embrace a broad spectrum of existing initiatives relating to Australia's research information and technological infrastructure. This gathering focused on evaluating and developing national strategies for Australia to provide information resources for its research community in a time of rising costs, dominance of overseas publishers and the migration from print to electronic production and distribution of scholarly literature. This research was funded under the Evaluations and Investigations Programme (EIP)
