Summary |
One of the first speaking Film Noir movies, M, directed by Fritz Lang depicts the horrid and almost evel nazi Germany of the 1930's. Inspired by the sordid life of a serial killer in Dusseldorf, it tells the story of Franz Becker (Petter Lorre) who has been murdering children across the city. Hunting down the murderer becomes the prime focus of the entire polic force, and soon enough the 'normal' criminals start coming out of the woodwork. Together, the local hoods and the police realize they will find the culprit sooner rather than later. With M, Fritz Lang has been credited with forming two genres; the serial killer moving and the police procedural. A classic Film Noir, it blends elements of crime and thriller while being typically dark both thematically and aestheically |
