Summary Three fundamental questions are addressed in the chapters that follow: What kinds of behavior constitute the domain of cognition? How do we conceptualize the knowledge base underlying cognitive processes such as thinking, perceiving, and remembering? What are the implications of different methodological techniques for our understanding?
The volume is organized into three parts. Part 1, Relation Between Organism and Environment, addresses in traditional terms issues of perception and action. The focus in Part 2, Aspects of Thinking, is on the way in which knowledge is organized and processed. These chapters address processes of reasoning, memory, and representation. Part 3, Learning in the Larger World, extends the concerns of the first two parts to learning and applications of the study of cognition. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2004 APA, all rights reserved)
