Summary |
This case study explores the use of interviews and participant-produced photography as part of my doctoral research project on young women's smoking. In this case study, I provide an overview of the project, my interest in studying young women's smoking, and the three-stage qualitative research design I employed--which included an interview, participant-produced photography, and a follow-up interview. I describe the challenges I encountered carrying out these methods, some ethical considerations, as well as the strengths of interviews and participant-produced photography as research methods. Throughout, I reflect on my relationship with the research, as well as participants' reflexive engagement with the study. In closing, I reflect on some of the practical lessons learned while undertaking this research |
