Summary "The declining years of the great Spanish artist Francisco de Goya (1746-1828) are portrayed in this film with cinematography by four-time Oscar winner Vittorio Storaro (Apocalypse Now). Deaf, ill and 82 years old, Goya is living his last years in voluntary exile in Bordeaux, a Liberal protesting the oppressive rule of Ferdinand VII. For his daughter Rosario, the only person who has patience for his wandering thoughts, Goya recollects radical political changes, the curse of fame and his seductions in the court of Charles IV. He is fixated on memories of his passion for the Duchess of Alba, who was both his lover and occasional life model. Directed by Carlos Saura, and stars Francisco Rabal and José Coronado.
