SAGE Research Methods. Cases
Summary The case describes the use of memoir analysis to investigate a board-level whistlebloweŕs account of his experience. This formed part of a broader research project into the role of emotionśespecially angeŕin whistleblowing episodes. We confirm our rationale for deploying memoir analysis as a research technique and summarize the unique features of the case that the whistleblower recounts in his Penguin publication. Modes of anger in whistleblowing and a whistlebloweŕs likely progression through these are summarized, but alternative perspectives on the validity of whistleblower anger are also acknowledged. In particular, insights we gained regarding the advantages and limitations of deploying memoir analysis are reviewed in a way that we hope will assist other researchers considering this qualitative technique. Finally, we acknowledge the importance of recognizing the influence of the researcheŕs own values, beliefs, and choices as part of a reflexive consideration of the research process
