In the summer of 2016, Turkish filmmaker Zeynep Sertbulut experienced a temporary psychotic episode. An ISIS airport bombing and a military coup in her home country set her world off axis and, with the camera rolling, she begins her journey down the path of emotional recovery. Back to Me documents the many stages of recovery from a traumatic event, while exploring identity and change in the midst of global conflict. The film tackles difficult subjects: How do you convey a traumatic event, and how you evoke a subject's ever-changing internal states?
