Summary From Costa Rica to Madagascar, 'Keepers of the Forest' paints 14 portraits of true human beings, in their struggle to make certain that animals which are often the treasure of their culture continue to thrive. In Zanzibar there is at least one man and one monkey who get together every day. The man is Shaabani Ali Hassan, and the monkey is the Red Colobus, a rare and wild species which has lived here cut off from the continent for 15,000 years
