Description 1 online resource (44 min.)
Summary Born in Scotland in 1947, Martin Walker has made a literary memorial to his adopted home, the French region of Périgord. His successful crime novels about the sympathetic village policeman "Bruno" play in this region and treat beside the criminal cases the rich history and the culinary specialties of the Périgord. The graduate historian and economist worked for 25 years as a journalist and foreign correspondent for the British newspaper "The Guardian". He has authored numerous nonfiction books, including on the Cold War, perestroika, Mikhail Gorbachev and Bill Clinton. To this day, he also manages a "think tank" in Washington, which analyzes trends in the global economy for major business enterprises and politicians. Martin Walker presents in this documentary his favorite places and the historically most important sites of Périgord
