Investigative journalist Jacques Peretti turns his attention to the diet industry where business is booming as obesity escalates. In this thought provoking series, Peretti examines the connections between obesity and weight loss, and confronts some of those who are making a fortune from people's desire to become thinner.In the final instalment, Jacques Peretti asks why the world's population continues to get fatter, despite the fact that billions are spent on weight loss every year. For many, the need to find a solution is becoming ever more urgent and an increasing number of people are turning to extreme weight loss solutions.Peretti travels to Brazil where obesity is now a serious problem and discovers that bariatric surgery is booming as a result. He also visits a Brazilian weight loss group, where many of the group's members tell him that they blame the country's increased consumption of Western food for its growing problems with weight. Jacques also explores the argument that in order to tackle the issue of obesity, it is important to stop simply focusing on weight loss solutions and to instead look at changing the food supply. He speaks with some experts who argue that the food industry has been doing their best to frustrate attempts to reform the food we eat.Jacques also travels to America to investigate the parallels between food companies and the tobacco industry.
