Summary Despite having no architectural training, Alan Dawson, a former blacksmith, has invented his own revolutionary way of building a house. Like a giant meccano set, he's going to make it in pieces in his workshop. The wiring, lighting, plumbing will all be built into sections which will then be taken to the site by truck. Even the carpet will be laid before the house is transported.Alan's plan is to have the house erected in seven days and, a few weeks later, be ready to move his family in or so he hopes. If the house is going to fit together as it should, every bit of it has to be designed and built with precision. Alan will only know for sure whether his #300,000 idea is going to work when it's time for it to be put together on site.PRODUCTION DETAILSWritten and presented by Kevin McCloud.
