| Summary |
*Coarse Language*Ward manager Eileen runs a busy general medical ward in Birmingham City Hospital. Every day she has to balance her budget and juggle the demand for beds, while caring for a ward of very sick patients.Eileen also has to manage her staff, including Tanya, an energetic and likeable newly qualified staff nurse. Gifted with the skills to deal with the most challenging situations, Tanya is one of Eileen's best nurses. There's only one problem - her attendance is terrible. Outside of work, Tanya is struggling with her chaotic lifestyle, housing problems and being a single mum. As Tanya points out, life might be easier if she just signed on to benefits.While Eileen sympathises with Tanya's predicament, her first responsibility is to make sure she can rely on her nurses and run the ward as she needs to.
