Summary DRONESThe military use of drones or UAVs has brought us into an age of flying robots. There's plenty of optimism about their use for civilian purposes, everything from search-and-rescue to even pizza delivery. But when it comes to where the technology is really at, is there a gap between expectation and reality? Mark Horstman visits the Australian Research Centre for Aerospace Automation in Queensland to find out how they are teaching drones to think for themselves.GONORRHOEAIn the past decade, rates of sexually transmissible infections (STIs) in Australia have been rising. One such STI is gonorrhoea - it's fast becoming a sexually transmitted superbug, resistant to every antibiotic in stock. Researchers are busily working on new antibiotics to destroy the bug, but if they fail, a global crisis could unfold. Dr Graham Phillips investigates whether a new antibiotic can be discovered before gonorrhoea runs rampant. BIKE RAGEWith a never ending stream of cars on our roads and traffic congestion out of control, cycling is becoming more and more popular. But with bikes and cars sharing our roads, bike rage is fast becoming the new road rage. An online survey of Queensland cyclists found that over 70 percent reported experiencing harassment in the past 12 months. But why do drivers seem to rage against cyclists? Surveys suggest that drivers view cyclists as 'the other' and are quick to judge them based on emotions rather than logic. It turns out that the same psychological mechanisms which drive racism and sexism could also be causing this ire towards cyclists. Simon Pampena experiences the rage
