Summary |
This series will take a group of young people from the UK on a crash course in urban and professional survival in some of the biggest and most colourful slums in India, Africa and Asia. Using the transformational power of the world's poorest neighbourhoods to inspire them, they'll not only be learning a new slum style but hopefully taking a new attitude back home. They'll be embedded into the lives of the locals, hearing the personal tales behind some of the world's emerging economies, realising that far from being a sob story, the slums, and the people that call them home are thriving places and have much to teach us in the west.In the sewers of Mumbai three inexperienced but aspiring UK plumbers take a crash course in how to live, work and survive in one of the toughest cities in the world. For 10 days they're guided, and tested, by extraordinary local trade people whose success is the difference between sink and swim and are challenged by the environment which is beyond anything they've ever experienced. It's an explosive combination of frustration, tension, failure and success for our three naive plumbers but do they have what it takes to call themselves Slum Survivors?
