Summary |
"Although the provision of care should take centre stage, a risk analysis component should feature in treatment programs. Unfortunately, these children's socialization to extreme ideological convictions, as well as their exposure to and potential involvement in violence, do mean that some will pose a potential threat to themselves or others. Providing effective treatment and care to the children and adolescents victimized by IS, not to mention the wider communities to which they belong, will require substantial efforts that, given the ongoing instability in the region, the international community maybe best placed to provide. Hopefully, the overview of both the challenges and opportunities for providing such care outlined in these pages will be able to contribute to such an undertaking." |
