Summary From donating a vital organ to a total stranger, to making a life-risking move to rescue another - Insight asks whether there is a moral obligation to save a life. There are many stories of heroic rescues, where one person has put their own life at risk in order to save a family member, friend, or even a total stranger - whether braving flood waters or returning into a blazing fire to retrieve those trapped inside a building. On the other hand, reports do emerge of attacks or accidents where victims are left unaided by passers-by, sometimes with fatal consequences. In response, a few have called for a 'duty to rescue' law, effectively forcing Australians to help others if they are in danger.Insight speaks to a range of people, many of whom have been in incredible life or death situations, asking whether there is a moral obligation - and whether there should be a legal obligation - to save the life of a fellow human being.Insight is hosted by Gold Walkley Award-winning journalist Jenny Brockie. The discussion continues online each week at sbs.com.au/insight, and on Twitter #insightSBS (An SBS Production) CC
