5 "forces" of counseling and psychotherapy ; 1
Summary In any counseling or psychology program, classes in theory are arguably some of the most important and relevant courses of study. Lessons in theoretical insight provide the foundation needed to understand the dynamics of human behavior and choose the therapeutic approach most appropriate to specific clients and situations. Counseling and psychology theories are often grouped into five key approaches, known as the "Five Forces". This video collection helps effectively link theory to practice by offering demonstrations that deconstruct these key theories. Each force is presented in two parts. Part I provides interviews with leading scholars and experts of each counseling force. These interviews discuss each theory's past evolution, conceptualization of client problem, role for the counselor, key techniques, and future directions. Part II shows counseling sessions with the same client from an expert in each force and concludes with a debriefing session
