The film takes viewers into the construction zone of the Freedom Tower, the memorial, and the transportation hub designed by Santiago Calatrava, on the hallowed 16 acres at Ground Zero.The Tower project is a worldwide effort, with Luxembourg manufacturing the steel beams, Germany making the elevators, Italy supplying the marble, Oregon assembling the exterior curtain wall panels and Canada sculpting the crowning antenna. It will be the tallest building in the Western hemisphere. The 9/11 Memorial will also include the tallest manmade waterfalls in America.This documentary profiles the architects, engineers and construction workers toiling on the various projects - some of whom will have to work at heights topping 500 metres. It captures the hidden struggle of the labourers to make the buildings safe and secure, under the pressures of a tight schedule, the demands of efficient 'green' architecture and practical office space, and the public's extremely high expectations of a fitting site for national remembrance.Weaving intimate personal stories into the extraordinary construction endeavour, this film is an epic tale of engineering, innovation, and above all, the perseverance of the human spirit.
