Summary A 100-million-year-old dinosaur mystery embedded in stone in remote Australia is about to be opened by a team of international scientists from Australia, Spain, the United States and Scotland. Thousands of dinosaur footprints etched in rock at a site near Winton, Queensland point to one terrifying moment, the only known dinosaur stampede on the planet. But no one has ever established what these dinosaurs were, why they were all there and why did they run in one direction. Is the presence of a monstrous track proof of a new prehistoric killer? With no fossils to turn to, the team use the relatively new science of palaeo-ichnology, the science of dinosaur footprints, to discover more about dynamic dinosaur behaviour than they ever could through studying bones. Using the latest 3D laser mapping technology, they make new discoveries of dinosaur movement that knock old dinosaur interaction theories on the head. Meanwhile on a cattle station not far from Lark Quarry, the 'crime scene' where the tracks are embedded, a farmer makes a discovery that alters the future of Australian dinosaur science. A dig on his farm uncovers a small bone of a carnivorous dinosaur. It leads to revealing insights into what might have happened at the stampede, an event brought chillingly back to life with amazing film graphics.PRODUCTION DETAILS:Produced by Ed Punchard for Prospero Productions and Screen Australia, in association with Screenwest and Lottery West.
