Summary Elektra is in despair. Her father Agamemnon has been murdered by her mother, Klytemnestra, and her mother's lover, Aegistheus. Elektra swears revenge. Failing to enlist the help of her timid sister, Chrysothemis, she determines to kill Aegistheus herself. Before she can carry out her plan, however, her brother Orestes, whom she believes dead, returns and determines upon revenge himself. He kills Klytemnestra and Aegistheus. Elektra drops down dead after an ecstatic dance of triumph. (From Germany, in German, English subtitles) (Masterpiece)
