Summary |
After providing a background for his work in Cognitive Therapy, Beck selects a female clinician to role-play her male client. The client, Mike, was abandoned by his wife after she had multiple affairs. Mike is a recovering alcoholic with a sexually transmitted disease who suffers from dating anxiety, childhood trauma, and feelings of inferiority. Beck demonstrates how to establish a collaborative relationship with the patient. He gives the patient a corrective emotional (cognitive) experience that will modify the personʼs view of himself and his future. Judith Beck participates in a supervisory role by summarizing the session |
