Summary Highly Recommended. An excellent learning tool that connects the arts, youth, and ecology in an innovative and exciting way to bring an important message about the devastating affects that people food can have on our bird population.' -Heidi Narte, Seattle Parks and Recreation 'Highly Recommended. This is an interesting project that helps get the message out in a different way about why it's not okay to feed ducks and geese. Most people are not aware of the problems associated with this common activity occurring in many of our parks and other waterfowl use areas.' -Don Kraege, Washington Dept. of Fish & Wildlife Unfortunately, too many well-intentioned people, including children, think they are being nice if they feed birds. Truth is, it threatens the birds' health and pollutes the environment--which is the important message of this children's style musical story based on an original song. 'The Ducks & Us' speaks to the power of singing as a learning tool for young children. The song was written and is performed by Pamela Sackett, founding artist of the non-profit organization, Emotion Literacy Advocates. Touching illustrations, animation and videos were created by interns at the Art Institute of Seattle. The Northwest Boychoir provided background vocals. Overall, the program is a sensitive and effective tool to help young viewers understand themselves and that there are mutually beneficial ways to engage with wildlife without sharing food
